Famous for serving tacos, burgers, sandwiches, and other delicious and southern-inspired foods in dog bowls, Dog House's lesser known menu item may just be one of the restaurant's best: the St. Louis-style pizza. The Square Off team joined owners Troy and Melissa at their new Crystal City spot recently to remind ourselves why we fell in love with their pizza last year. The new restaurant is larger and filled with natural light from wall-to-wall windows. And while they've outgrown the Desoto digs where they got their start, they've stayed true to the made-with-love approach to food that they've become famous for.
For the 2019 Square Off, Dog House brings us the "Mac Daddy." It starts with a cracker-thin crispy crust, which provides a strong foundation for the loaded-on toppings that make it into every bite. Topped then with everyone's favorite childhood food: mac and cheese! That spiral pasta is spread edge-to-edge and then scatter over is a layer of buffalo chicken made with house-made buffalo sauce, bacon, and of course a healthy helping of provel cheese!
Cheesy, tangy, savory, spicy, and nostalgic; Dog House's pizza is going to be a challenge to beat this year!
